Meeanee Firewood

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pick up the firewood?
No

How much wood is in a bin?
There is approximately 0.9m3 of split wood in a bin. Our wood is thrown not stacked.

How big are the pieces of wood?
All wood is split to fit into a standard log burner type fireplace.

How dry is the firewood?
At Meeanee Firewood we purchase our logs in advance and cut the logs into rings prior to summer. This allows the wood to dry over the summer months. However a small percentage of this wood maybe damp. The reason for this is the wood is stored on the ground and can draw moisture in to it. However, these pieces should dry out very quickly once stacked.

Yes, we do have a mobile eftpos machine (if you require this please let us know). Payment can be made by internet banking. If an order is placed online you will receive a confirmation email that will also have our bank details.

How much does it cost for delivery of my firewood?
For Napier, Bayview, Haumoana. Te Awanga and Hastings areas there is a charge of $20 per delivery (whether you purchase one bin or four bins). Additional costs will apply for other areas.

When and how will my firewood be delivered?
Deliveries are done during the week and weekends and if paying via internet banking, will be made once your payment has cleared.  The wood will be delivered using a large tip trailer or a tip truck and we will endeavour to tip it off wherever you like, if possible. Please advise us when ordering if access to your property with a trailer or truck is difficult or not possible.

What is the best way to store firewood?
If possible store the wood in a well-ventilated and covered area. If you don’t have a wood shed cover the wood with a tarpaulin or corrugated iron. Storing firewood off the ground will prevent moisture from being drawn up into the woodpile. Make sure air can circulate.
